Volunteer Lead Fundraiser

Would you like to contribute in a practical way to building relations with the Arab and Muslim world? 

This role will give you the opportunity to mentor a Trainee Volunteer Fundraiser and to work with a small and enthusiastic team of volunteers organising exchanges of young professionals with Arab countries.

BAX is run entirely by volunteers with a passion for creating and developing bridges between Europe and the Arab world. After a recent restructuring under a new Chair, we are now seeking to expand our work and our team.

Role description

To be the Lead Fundraiser and mentor a Volunteer Trainee Fundraiser, under the direction of the Treasurer. 

Flexible hours, for the equivalent of 1 or 2 days a week, worked from home, with monthly meetings in London.

You will plan and execute fundraising activities to cover costs of BAX’s exchanges by: 

  • Writing funding applications
  • Researching funding opportunities
  • Making and nurturing contact with businesses, trusts and other donors.

What does the role offer?

The role gives the opportunity to play a crucial role in the development of the charity as it grows, take part in BAX events and activities and make a practical contribution to British-Arab relations at a particularly pivotal time in history.

Out of pocket expenses will be refunded on request. Volunteers will be given a brief induction to BAX and the existing team.

Desirable attributes

  • A keen interest in, and agreement with, the vision, mission and values of BAX
  • Excellent written and spoken English (Arabic an advantage but not essential), and good verbal communication skills
  • A good track-record in fundraising for charities
  • Good writing abilities for the creation of fundraising proposals
  • Good relationship-building qualities for engaging with funders
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Computer and email literate, proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Interviews will be held in central London on 22 January 2013.

Induction will take place in central London on 11 February 2013.
