Our Funding

BAX is a non-governmental body, registered with the Charity Commission as an educational charity. When it was operational, BAX was dependent on contributions from commercial and professional enterprises as well as from individuals concerned for the future of Britain’s relations with the Middle East.

British participants visiting Arab countries were responsible for their own airfares. Whilst there, they are the guests of the inviting country.

Arab delegations, or their sponsors, were responsible for their airfares, while BAX met the full cost of the students’ programme within Britain. This was BAX’s main area of expenditure. Although reduced by contributions of hospitality and other voluntary help, considerable expenses were involved in providing accommodation, transport, meals and other requirements.
